Modified Grab Rail

This  is s metalworking and plasticworking project. I had to put a  grab rail by the shower but there was no good  "flat" surface to attach it to - just a corner. This rail came with 3" diameter flanges on it for mounting to a wall. I cut them off and made these nylon  blocks to fit the corner where it got mounted  There are machine screws that come up from the bottom, through the tubes and threaded into the blocks. Three screws mount each block to the corner. It is a solid mount.

Nice fix 👍🏼

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Functional and looks,good.

Good for you Jim! Slips as we get more "seasoned" can be catastrophic.

(Like the extinguisher too!)
Thanks for the nice comments. Us old folks don't want any broken hips.

Jim,
Pretty slick solution to the perdictiment at hand. Nice work on modifying the mounts, where there's a will - a woodworker will always find a way.
Thanks, Tom. I had to ponder this one for a while  and then I made a wood template of the corner and made the nylon blocks fit it!!

Well done! I have some grab bars yet to put in the master bath. Wife's getting to where she needs one along the length of the tub. We have one to hold onto getting in or out of the tub, and even I use it.

Why wouldn’t you use it? Falling down in the tub is a shitty way to get hurt. And it happens a lot, to old and not-old people.

Nice jop on a tight fit matching the contours of the moulding, and radii around the perimeters.  Thank you for sharing your project.
Thanks, Dark Lightning, Ryan and Dokayak.  !!!! They are handy when there is nothing else to grab a hold of in a  slip and fall situation.
