Puzzle Box Ed

Hey Guys, so I started teaching this year, seems there are guys out here that want to learn how to make puzzle boxes.

Not everyone can afford the course, and I live on a tiny island to boot, so coming here is also unlikely. Despite that, the mechanical puzzle box world is slowly growing with new talent.

Inspired by my new student, I have come up with a way that may cut a few corners financially.   On the challenge side is that you don’t get any further instructions then what is available from the video or the inexpensive plan on Etsy.  I figure there are lots of guys out here that have the moxie to figure it out on their own, like I did.

Watch the video, I explain what is happening, and if you want to challenge yourself, I invite you to take the design further.  If you want to share your experiences, pics and progress, I am happy to share them with my social media circles.

Good luck!

That's cool!

I like cigar boxes, that's a clever way to use one.

Hey, you don't know me, but you don't like me ... Buck Owens

Nice puzzle! There are lots of ways to use that.
Thanks for the intro! Seemingly simple lock that is not so simple to open.

It's the small bites like this that get the ideas flowing. I could see some gear teeth linking the two wheels. One knob that is spring loaded so pull/push to re-index the teeth and eventually the flats could align and allow the lid to retract.

Sky is the limit (and space inside the box) 👍

Cool vid Snake... gives a great start and ideas for expansion for potential puzzle makers....

Being an ex smoker, the last thing I need is to be near the sniff of a cigar (used to love them)... now if only I could make one out of an empty cardboard vino cask... I have an endless supply of those.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
