Box (Harmonicas)

Built this for a musician friend (had no idea it was coming). And in return, I will be getting a Big Cherry Burl, Yeah!!

The case is Cherry, the bottom is Maple along with the hinges and latch, top panel is Purpleheart, Lacewood, Walnut, Maple, Cherry. Again I used a thinner lumber at 5/16". For the dividers I used Basswood, then used a closed cell foam to line the interior. Finished with Danish Oil followed with a wipe on Poly.

I hand carved the music note, thinking about experimenting with epoxies.

Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

Yeah, there has been a music theme.

I like the mechanism of the latch that the magnet keeps the latch from popping up and the wedge shape actually holds the lid. Very smart and of course the box is beautiful:)

No name noobie here

Yrti, thanks. That was a though process in the latch, and how to by-pass hardware or a key. I did use Bamboo Skewers to hold the small pieces to the box.

Another beauty! And another set of awesome hinges and latches. I need to remember that latch design for when I have a chance to use it.
The latch design is worth copying.   Boxes, looks good as well.   Nice, work.

Very nice Eric. I'm curious how you got that "hammered" look on the latch.

Very nice work Eric, this shows your high level craftsmanship. All joints are tight, and the hand made hinges and lid clasp reinforce your abilities. Beautiful.
OldTool, thanks. I strive for a good-looking project, I appreciate the comment.
