Boot jack - Stövelknekt

My mother needed a bootjack so I offered to make her one. Online I found a drawing that has been used in the slöjd education in the elementary school here in Sweden in the beginning of the 20th century. The drawing is actually very good and the bootjack has a lot of features that offers the students to learn how to perform a lot of basic steps with different hand tools.
I enjoyed following the drawing and actually had to ponder about what was the best tool and method to use for each of the steps.
The bootjack  is made from a piece of oak and was treated with boiled linseed oil which really made the figure pop.

Interesting project.

Nice project, those are really handy and eliminate messy hands from pulling off messy boots!
That oak looks awesome, great figure.
You and I both have cars as our icon image.    Mine is a Porsche Cayman S.    I am trying to identify yours,  Morris Minor?    Had a Morris Minor pickup truck years ago.

I have learned through experience with trying a few of these, they are NOT a one size fits all kind of thing. I have BIG feets, and most of the ones I have tried are way too small. Never thought of making one just for me, but I may give it a go. Seems like it's a really sound idea. Nice build, hope your Mom liked hers.

Any of the "oils" we put on wood will pop the grain, BLO is just toward the lower end of the price scale. :-) Bargain BOOOM!!!!!
good point made about the size. womans feet are usually much smaller than mens so maybe something to think about ? well done on yours.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I thought bootjacks were supposed to be angled so they fit ‘all’, no??

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

you got me ryan ?
