Walnut Box

This box measures 6" wide x 3.25" tall x 3.25" deep. The sliding top has a magnet to keep the box closed. Not a fan of this box, but I do like the sliding top. I added leather to the floor of the box.

Hard to go wrong with walnut!  Looks good to me.  What made you not be a fan?
looks great john.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Good job awesum55. I like your box construction, the mitered corners, and the slide in top. On all the boxes I've made I have not tried walnut yet. Living in the Northwest it's not easy to find and expensive as heck! One day I will... for that special box.
Awesome,

That is a nice looking box. Lid is real cool.

Thanks Ron

Thank you Barb, I love walnut too. I don’t like the way the corners look. I rarely make plans I just design as I build, and sometimes I don’t like the outcome.

Much appreciated Pottz

Thanks Rick you will love working with walnut. It sands easily, probably my favorite wood to work with.

Thank you Petey, I’m having fun making tops like this, my next one is a little different.

Really like the focus, the lid!
Neat pattern, possibilities are endless!
Thanks Bruce, I'm having fun thinking of different patterns to cut.

The pattern is cool.  At first glance it looks totally random but then you realize that there is a geometric structure to it sort of like a leaf.

I like to consider my plans as "strong suggestions" as they are usually developed with a pencil on scrap paper or dreamed up when I cannot sleep (so guess that isn't really a dream if I'm awake).  Sometimes these go along smoothly, but often there is extra figuring involved.  Just part of the journey.  🙂

And, I think this box looks great, even if it didn't end up being your favorite.
That is s very attractive box, John..............nice work on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really like the box especially the top.  How thick was the top you cut with your laser?
