Shoe Bench

A few months ago, Pottz told me a good lumber yard (Thank you!) so I went there and found a cutoff piece of Sycamore. It wasn't what I was looking for but my wife wanted it so we got it and I made a shoe bench out of it.

It's a quarter sawn but one side had a crack so I filled it with epoxy and put bowties.

As there any many joints(to me, it's many) to cut and I was kind of busy in the past months, this project took a long time and I finally finished it. I didn't do anything special on this project but I really carefully made it so all the pieces align well.

There are miner mistakes here and there but luckily, it's under the top board:)

Thank you!

Looks great! Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Excellent!
Like all your projects, built to last. Great looking "patch" with the bow ties!
A good shoe bench is essential...nice look and good work on the joinery.
Nice design!  How was the sycamore to work with?  Looks great!  And helpful to have a place to sit as well as to store shoes.
Sycamore quarter sawn is beautiful.  Your bench made wonderful use of it.   The joints and technique great.   Interesting YouTube video, well done.

Ron

Very nice! Can't wait to watch the video tonight

Tom -  Thank you!
BB1 -  I thought Sycamore was hard but it wasn't and it is very easy to work with but when I shaved it, it smelt like horse stable, haha
Ron, Yes, Sycamore is very nice! It's my new favorite and it goes well with my another favorite, cherry:)
Mos, Thank you! I bought a decent video light setup for the finished product but I don't know, everything is reddish, haha.
Corelz, Thank you!

Thank you Pottz. Yes, it's a nice place. I also got some other small pieces from there and trying to find what I can make. The place isn't far from where I live so yeah, definitely:)

That is one handsome piece of wood working, pretty much the same as anything you make, Yrti!
Hey, Pottz, I thought you worked at H&W? I don't see sycamore out here in the hinterlands. Yrti, if you live near there, maybe Pottz and you and I can meet. I'm about 50 miles away from that store. I'd like to get some sycamore; I got a little piece from Phil32 that I used to make part of the top for that Kleenex box. I love that grain figure as much as QSWO.

Thank you Dark_Lightning! They had plenty of nice QS sycamore and I also wanted to get cypress if they have 6/4+.
Yeah, why not! I'm happy to see real woodworking people. I'm down for it.
