Urn for a Friend's Friend

I was asked  on Sunday to make an urn for Doug's friend who is having a memorial service on Friday. I would have liked to turn it but he said the ashes were in a  sealed can that the family wanted  to fit in the urn. The top of the box and the underside of the lid are bare wood so the lid can be permanently glued on. The box is lock mitered together so I did not add any splines to it.

It is made of walnut and is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" inside.
The lid was turned to contour the top. It is finished with clear satin enamel.

Very nicely done. The engraving adds so much.
Thanks, Barbara. I was lucky to get it tone because my computer locked up right after this engraving and is now in the shop!

Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Fine work Jim!
Neat trick with the guide board riding on the fence!
Nice work. Urns are emotionally difficult. I recently completed one for a family member. Anyway, I'm sure those who receive it will appreciate your efforts...
Thanks, Ryan, Bruce, and Tim !!!
