Post 2 of Bourbon Barrel Mugs

This is the final steps for the bourbon barrel mugs
1. Apply the 2-part epoxy resin to the inside of the mug. This is done in 2 coats, each coat drying 24 hours in between. I then leak test each mug with hot water. If need be, apply another coat.
2. Using a brick of wax, I run it up and down the mug while it is mounted to the lathe turning a around 1800 rpm. This melts and coats the wax to the outside of the cup. Then using a thick cotton cloth at the same rpm I polish the wax.
3. I then find a nice place to cut the antler and glue it to the mug

Nice finishing technique.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Great design idea with the antler! You can open a frontier themed pub.

Mugs look excellent.
Tell the PETA rep the antlers are plant based.   They are.
Like the mugs a lot.

Thank you for reminding me, I forgot to mention. The antlers are seasonal shed.

The Boxer

This is the first mug. There will be 20 - 30 to follow.

The Boxer

20 to 30 to follow? That’s a lot. They look good. Have you attached the antler yet?  With all those mugs will we be invited over for a brew?😏

I sell at artisan markets. What may help these sell is that one of the markets is right next to a brewery / restaurant.

The Boxer

That’s great Boxer. Great location for a sale. Maybe the Brewery will buy them all. Tell them you’ll burn or carve their logo on them. Please show us them when the handles are on and before you sell them. Well. I guess we won’t be having the brew. 😥
