Wooden Knife scales with matching sheath

Something new I was trying out in the wood shop. I purchased a couple of knife blanks at a well-known craft store that were on sale for a really good price.  Then took some scrap Flaming Box Elder and away I went. I surprised myself at the way the knife fits in the sheath and stays really nice. I haven't figured out a belt clip yet or if I really want one. I am going to make another and with that I will take pictures on how I made the inside of the sheath to fit the blade an make a second post. I got one other surprise. The wife wanted this one.

That box elder is gorgeous and looks perfect for the project.  What type of finish did you use?
I am sorry I forgot to mention. It is a bees wax finish.

Followup- do you also finish the inside before assembly?  Or would a finish not be desired with the blade contact?
I did not put a finish on the inside. I thought that may make the knife slip out to easy.

Oh I hadn't thought of that.  Random thought- could a weak magnet be placed inside to snug but not overly hold the knife?  Guessing that's unnecessary as general placement will allow gravity to make it secure.
nice knife, that box elder is on fire !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Some killer Box Elder, totally bling worthy, nice job.
Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

That box elder is perfect for this. Hope it doesn’t change color from oxidation.
