This is my home made scratchstock that I often use. I use my Lee Valley one too but mine has a deeper reach.

The things you can do are amazing!

Thanks for looking!
Cheers!

Never heard that term. I assume it makes that profile?

Nothing better than a well made tool!
Very nice Rick. These tools are great for profiling the edge of curved stock.

Barb.... scratch stocks are awesome. I encourage you to give it a try. Yes they make profiles in wood like what I show. The profile on the blade is cut into the wood by slowly moving it back and forth. It's actually micro planing the wood. I highly recommend Lee Valley's. You can buy blades or make your own. But buying them there's a limit. So I make them out of pieces of bandsaw blades.

Thanks Pottz and Steve!
You're right Oldtool! Thanks.
I made a table once and scratch stocked a bead around the top's edge. It turned out awesome!
Interesting and useful.

Thanks Ron and Dutchy! Cheers!
Nicely done, sir. I made one similar a few years ago, but never really got the profiles cut right to make it work properly. Yours is a beaut!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Ryan .... it's worth making for sure. Like I mentioned I also have the Lee Valley one. It's very manuverible especially around curves. But my made one has a deeper reach. I use both interchangeably. Definitely worth having.
