Eye Glass Storage Case

funny Dark Lightning posted his spec case and a day later my son requested i make him an eye glass case for xmas. i sowed him DL'S and he like the design. so i thought rather than a stand up id do a flat case with a lid to keep dust off. main body is Padauk with maple lid and trim. contrasting spline on the corners for a little more strength. drawer liner on the bottom for a little cushioning. rubber bumpers on the bottom. 6 coats of satin lacquer for the finish. im not crazy about the hinges though so i may change those out, or be lazy and leave em be. lid has 1/8" plexiglass.

Tor and Odin are the greatest of gods.

Now that is a classy build, and a fast one too! You must be retired or something?

It’s so well made. I really like how you made the lid and those contrasting splines are a must look at twice head turning event.
Looks like it would be at home on a coffee table or any flat surface.

I’m currently using a large coffee mug for mine, but it’s a nice coffee mug.

At least it'll make a great jewelry box when they get contacts.

Oh, I don't think that will work unless you have a bunch of anonymous woodworkers in your family and friends!  Better get a ranking system in place to see whose project is next. 😁
lol- yeah i know but id prefer people dont say where projects came form. tends to lead to people asking for something you dont wanna do, or something they wont pay whats it' worth !!! 🤑

Really nice display case, Pottz.  Does a lacquer finish help the padauk retain its orange/red color?   I know that it slowly dulls to brown with an oil finish.
That is a sharp looking case pottz!
