Forklift "man lift" cage

I've been wanting to make one of these for a few years as I use the pallet stacker (with a wooden pallet) as an aerial work platform for my taller projects. It can be fairly sketchy to work on. The stars finally aligned where I had material in stock, some time available, and I'm moving shops so I'll be doing a lot of high work (lights, wiring etc). I welded castors to the base so it can get rolled around the shop easily. I used an old receiver pin with cotter pin to secure the gate. My welding area is way too small so I had to make this in the wood shop. Tomorrow Il blow everything out the shop to try and remove all grindings etc... I'll probably paint it at some point

Very cool and handy, I'm jealous you have a personal fork lift!
Do you require someone to lift you up or is there some kind of remote?

That should allow you to work up high with a little less stress!
Nice project!
Yes, it lifts 1500 lbs 12' high. It has a controller on a long coiled cable so it goes up with you.  And a lot less stress, especially as I often have to haul my welder up there

My son and I did something similar to install CCTV cameras on his warehouse.
We used the frame from a IBC.

I had a load of ply and the container ready to bring back to Brisbane after helping him relocate.
So we removed the "bladder" fixed the frame to a pallet and strapped it to the fork tines to do the job.

The box the fork lift came in was reused to pack gear to relocate.

We wanted to use  plastic folding crates but trying to arrange the hire of one proved too time consuming.

Regards Rob

That looks perfect! Smart to recycle/ repurpose
