2nd Wedge Sled

I made this wedge sled to fit my Ryobi BT 3000 table saw that has no miter slots. The sled  has rails on the underside that fit over the center casting of the Ryobi saw. The rails have strips of 1/4" Delrin plastic on them to reduce wear and make it slide freely. The sled has 5 positions pinned to make wedges of 15 degrees, 22.5 degrees, 30 degrees , 40 degrees and 45 degrees. The positions are very close to the degree noted but the fence may have to be shimmed to make parts at the exact angle needed.

I made the rear hand rail split so the left side can be removed if longer boards are used to cut the wedges. The wedges shown are set up pieces to dial in the angles for each position. They were checked using a Wixie box. When the angle was obtained, the pin location was transferred from the fence to the sled.
The sled, fence and rails are made from Baltic birch. The clamp and end stop are made from maple and the handle on the locator pin is female box elder
The following are some process shots taken during the build. I used a trim router to make the circular T slot:

Nice.  Maybe a micro adjust with a screw on the fence instead of a shim to fine tune the angles?

--Nathan, TX. Hire the lazy man. He may not do as much work but that's because he will find a better way.

Be good to have!   Like it.

Ron

Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Jim

Can I introduce you to the incra HD 1000 mitre guage? That is impressive work tho.

Petey

Nice, Jim!

May you have the day you deserve!

You design and build nice objects.
I built a much simpler version of this for my band saw years back, to make diamonds for the 3-D effect. This is WAY nicer.  I like how it goes way beyond what an Incra could do (e.g., stops not just for common angles, but for repeat cuts too (which is one of the reasons I built my lesser version).
Thank you all for the nice comments.

Hi Nathan  The adjustments usually are in tenths of a degree and a few pieces of masking tape does the trick.

Hi Petey, I have never seen any of the Incra jigs, but a  long time ago when I was an apprentice tool maker, by boss said "You appreciate it more if you make it yourself"...and I have always lived by that. We did a lot of "Government" jobs making our own tools in  those days and I still have all of them.

Hi Kelly, I just saw your jig for the band saw!!

Very nice jig Jim! I like the removable portion of the fence.
