A story tellers chair!
This was a commission I did back 2016 for my local primary school - Jarrahdale Primary School in Western Australia. The school was making a garden in remembrance of a well loved member of staff who had recently died.  They wanted some appropriate garden furniture to put in it.

We can up with the idea of a 'Story tellers' chair - Maxine's chair, and some benches that could be grouped around it while staff read stories to the children. The chunky Story Tellers chair was made to be imposing.

Its huge and though I'm 6 ft tall, my feet don't touch the floor when I'm seated!!

The chair and benches are all made from local jarrah, and screwed together. They are decorated with Australian nursery rhyme phrases with related pictures, that were routed into their surfaces! Some of the rhymes are typically Australian, if you were wondering why you didn't recognise some of them!

Thanks for looking.
Love the chair.  All is really great work😊

Love this! The idea is great and I love the idea of the big chair. You made me think of a funny play on the words of one of the nursery rhymes we have in the UK, called Hickory, Dickory, Dock. You probably have that one in Australia too. It goes:

Hickory, Dickory, Dock
The mice ran up the clock
The clock struck one
And the others got away with minor injuries. LOL.

Nice chair and benches! I have a small piece of jarrah around here somewhere. It's a sample, so really small.
Brit, that's too funny!
