yes that right, it's a placemat storage rack. swmbo has placemats for every season and holiday and wanted  a rack to keep em organized. so i said no problem. a simple one day project using up left over 3/4 and 3/16 plywood. no fancy joinery just staples and glue. finished with rattle can lacquer. this is only part of her collection, there are more in the kitchen ! sorry but no long narrative with a 100 pic's on this one !

Sandpaper sheet storage?????

Ron

Looks a lot like my table saw (and RAS) blade storage, except infinitely nicer lol  Good idea for it, I wouldn't be opposed to making something like that for towels too... I hate how they don't stack right and then you pull one out and you get them all...

Nice work on a very useful rack. I like that because you don't have to unload a stack of them to get the one you want.

Nice rack! My wife needs a closet for all of those. No closet space left, they're just piled everywhere.

I looked at that too and thought sandpaper storage like Ron!   Well done!

Cool P! Anything to make storage of non-shop items is critical to get more space for useful stuff like beer.

I need something to organize 10,000 assorted pieces of tupperware.
thanks guys. yeah ive seen people make racks for sandpaper the same way. i really never use sheet paper though so no need for the shop.

I used to use a lot of sheets for autobody work. Have 80 - 2500 silicone carbide. Probably over 1000 sheets that I also don't really use anymore. Now it is just discs, belts for the DS, and foam pads.
Hasn't SWMBO heard of beautiful MDF?...

that way you wouldn't need to hide it in a cupboard,

MDF is way too exotic for that ducks !!!

Nice one Pottz, a functional piece of craftsmanship that makes good use of stock inventory, pleases the individual it was created for, and - it didn't require a lot of time thus providing a relaxing day in the shop with instant gratification for you.
Looks like a home run sir, great all around.
sure was my friend. a win win !!!

Nice job!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Ofcourse, this way is more tidy and accessible.

Nicely done pottz.

Idea: if you had a 3/6" of ply under the place mats it would act as a slide. This way you can pull out the stack of pace mats out and take way you need and slide the rest back in.

I did that for my golf shoes for my locker.  2 pair per slide. Guys are now copying my slides.

Just a thought.

You could hide the end grain with something cool.
