this is an old project from about 20 years ago that i made for my neighbor. at the time he wanted this i was busy and didn't want to do it. he's a stubborn old guy and didn't take no for an answer. i was out mowing my lawn and he comes out and sticks 400 bucks in my hand and says, heres some incentive 🤣so he got his cabinet. i was at his house for his 92nd birthday last night and took these pic's. cabinet is walnut ply and solid walnut. ball bearing drawer glides. finish is maloof oil. questions ill answer if i can remember !

Looks really nice! And built to be an heirloom, it would appear.

Really nice looking Pottz! It's held up nicely over all the years. That's a sign of good quality and workmanship!
Yes, good workmanship, great wood.   Like it a lot.

Very nice...I have been looking for designs for just one of these...except now they need to be bigger...this is a great design and very well executed!

Did your neighbor give you a design (or rough idea of one), or did he expect you to do that job too?

In any case, it still looks great. I like the step on the drawer fronts. It adds some visual interest.

Did you take special pains to keep the top from sagging? TVs were so much heavier twenty years ago.
thanks guys. he just gave me the size he wanted and let me do what i wanted. at first he had one of those big rear projection tv's on it. the back side of the upper shelf is fully open but as you can see no sagging. the top is solid walnut.

Very nice, though the drawer pulls make my ankles fearful lol. I've learned in the shop, all drawer pulls need to meet the drawer front at the end 😂

Looks good!

I can see that you made it for older TV's due to the extra depth, but that big screen looks right at home.
I made a build in for all sorts of stuff, but the center was 24" deep to hold a heavy 33" CRT. Little did I realize that the 33" would crap out about 1 year after finishing it and the LCDs were down from exotic prices to consumer level.
Fortunately I made the inset shelf unit adjustable so it didn't look awkward with the change to HD format.
Looking good after 20 years! You built it well and the guy maintained it well. Nice! But, but the best part is the Toshiba VHS:)

No name noobie here

thanks guys.

thanks ivan. he painted it green !
Though from another thread... assume the same neighbour...

WOW... at 92, I'm surprised he had the stamina to scrub the paint off.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Very nice work here Pottz, great design and a beautiful build. It is obvious your neighbor really likes this cabinet, very well cared for after 20 years. Sweet.
Nothing says the 80's are calling like watching VHS on your HD!
