“RAY Gun” Cabinet.

Boys and Girls,

Please don't confuse this post with that Aussie embarrassment,

This inundation of recent posts by me that have dragged out projects from the archives is driven by my hesitation to RTFM for my new 3D printer and the Shaper Origin’s BenchPilot and my endeavour to break up my puzzles for the sake of all the naysayers.
While I probably can’t avoid the inevitable, I can offload my chagrin with all you unfortunates… read on or simply enjoy your joie de vivre.

This “gun cabinet” mock-up was made years ago and going by the date of the doco I downloaded to my computer (2011),

even before I got hooked on SketchUp design.
I will plead my ignorance, as SWMBO insists my arrogance is inexcusable, and can only assume I made the cabinet around that time. Search as I might I cannot find any build photos, however the carcass was much the same as my Side Cabinet, with the internals designed on the fly. It measures big enough to hold my arsenal and was dyed black (Watsons) in up-keeping with the idiot that sold this house to this idiot... also finished with some kind of cheapo water based varnish.

The cabinet was designed to hold two sets of “rifles”, two sets of “guns” and 2 “controllers”, with another two “controllers” mounted in the “rifles”… all to supplement the rebellious family’s PS3 shot-them-up game of Time Crisis.
I know, too much information, but I’m trying to drag this blog out.

As I keep drumming into SWMBO, it’s not what’s on the outside, but the inside that matters… she says it matters when I’m inside and outside is betta.

Another build out of carefully selected pine, that somehow missed out on the property of the Bunning’s mandatory bowed/cupped/twisted/dented stock.
The outside carcass panels were joined using my Frontline clamps, dovetailed with the Leigh D4R and the door was created using this raised panel router set,

I designed some hinge based retainers for the rifles and guns…
Went upmarket and flocked the contact areas… for cosmetics… and to prevent damage to their pinpoint sight. A comfortable resting place when I’m not blasting the baddies…
Hate playing against SWMBO… half the time I get a feeling her gun is not pointed at the screen… #1 son just bashes me over the head with the rifle, and squeezes out a “Sorry pop, ya looked like a bad guy!”… daughter stays in the background and simply roots for the guys on the screen and calls me Mr. Trump when I shoot a baddie on the screen… “love is in the air”… somewhere!... even the taxman stopped referring to me as Sir Sucker, since I retired.

Thanks for watching and let me get more comfortable for another puzzle instalment… plenty more in the bag,

Another needed game room accessory 👍

Gotta wonder, why the "Sommerfeld Junior" set?
Kinda like:

versus:

Guy's gotta have a cabinet to store his Ray Guns.

Nice cab Duckie. I took it to mean it was a Jr sized detail made by the bit, rather than a set for Junior, but I may be wrong?
Sorry eRas... the only tool in my gameroom is me.

Actually I wasn't 109% positive which one I used, but it's referred to as the junior to the bigger daddy (smaller panel profile)...

I wasn't sure of which one so I just flipped a coin to quote which one I used... I never though that SWMBO had the tenacity to hire the Inquisition to question my integrity... both CMT, both heavy duty.
