OH_NO, another HOZO (box).

Boys and Girls,

After getting hooked on my NeoBlade box which compelled me to make a box for it, (sorry Dutchy, review in the air), it was time to make a similar, more practical box for this newly acquired item,

Again, I will bypass any reviews at the time and concentrate on the MDF box I laser cut for it.

It started with me using another impulse purchase called the Shaper Trace … another item pending a review, however, as its feature is software based, I may hold back on that till future upgrades which hopefully will introduce more AI intervention.

Took some RTFM’ing
and came up with SVGs with less than my previous convoluted process, though not as streamlined as initially expected (hence my review reservation) and imported into SketchUp and tweaked,
Treasuring my MDF investment, I didn’t want to sacrifice the precious material and cut my prototypes out of cardboard to test fit,
and was gruntled.

Time to tackle my precious,
and start to glue up (with assistance),

I’ll save you the boring interims (happy snaps) of the build and just sum up by saying I got a kick about burning MDF.

There is a special shelf for replacement sandpaper

inside the top lid,

This construction sits well with the other box,

I only intend to regularly use grits 180G, 240G and 400G (and saw blades) which is stored in the box, so a new box may also be required for the other grits,

The SketchUp model can be viewed/downloaded from the 3DW,

I create my laser jobs in CorelDraw, however, for anyone interested I can make the CorelDraw CDR file available… it can be read/processed by freebie Inkscape to create SVG files to be processed by laser programs like Lightburn.

For any 3D printer enthusiast, I could make the STL files available on request… just tell me how you’d like them presented.

Don’t be crafty  Craftisians,... SHARE  your craft!

Hey that's cool, great design ...I am keen on learning more about this sander now too, lol

Waiting patiently for the safer review.     Box is pretty nice.

Very nice storage container for this tool, well designed and executed, but a bit complicated for me though. I just use cardboard boxes, one for this tool would go into an old shoe boo. Guess I'm still operating in the stone age.
Really nice design.  Awaiting the use review for this particular unit.  Did you do anything to lessen the MDF burn?
Nicely done, ducky. I’ll be interested to see what you think of the Shaper Trace. I’ve had pretty good luck with it, but it’s not perfect.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Nice box. Which is worse- smoke or sawdust?

The Other Steven

Not sure even if I had one I would make a box. I guess I'm not a box kinda guy? Have you had thoughts about doing a review of these tools. Looking at them they both seem to be interesting, but not sure if they actually have real world woodworking potential, unless all of your projects are like the box, and made of very thin material. I'm trying to place how they would work on the face of something 4, 6, 8" tall, with their very short pad/blade and no apparent extension. IOW I can't see it, doesn't mean it can't, just that I can't see it.
Thanks for your kind comments guys.
I plan to write a review on both products (the NeoSander and the NeoBlade)... both have a niche use and are primarily designed for small parts... probably as useless on large tables/cabinets as a 22-44 drum sander on a toothpick.
First I'm drafting a review of the Shaper Trace that I used to create the profiles for the box,

impressive as usual ducks, but neither tool would be much use for what i do. but for you model makers id say get both !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Yeah, looking forward to a deep dive into those Neos!
From the initial guess, they are perfect for detail work on models and I dare say, small puzzles!

The box is a great beginning, get it organized so when needed you are not digging around for all the parts.
I appreciate the anti pugalist sentiment GW. But while the original cardboard box is neat,

spill my vino on it and it'll go to mush... MDF will only stain red.

Looks like my Kickstarter support earned me a free extra HOZO,

or they screwed up the order... however, mum's the word for the lady my dirty old man got pregnant.

Cool storage box, Ducky!!!!! Is there any new tool that you don't have?????????

Unfortunately JJ, I haven't got your insight for fabricating useful items, I have to have the backing of Mr. VISA.

Papa, I have a 30W CO2 laser (according to Splinter... I'm no techo)... so no, I don't do anything to reduce burning other than the first setting I ever tried.
If I have to cut >6mm then I do have issues and that's why I try to work in multiples of 3mm and 6mm MDF (or solids) as their thickness is within Chinese tolerances.  While I like solids, MDF is a tad more predictable and for my use, MDF is good enough... and when polished with the Beall buffing system, it's tolerable by most others.
The laser seals the MDF 'endgrain' glue content to assist glue ups and assembly... depends on ones outlook fortunately/unfortunately, I'm not the greatest experimenter and when something works for me, like shite to fur, I'll stick to it.

Hi Duck

Even if you gifted me a box for one of these sanders, or knives I am NOT the guy that dutifully puts all the pieces back in it's provided storage spot. I am more the guy who has an appropriate sized rubbermaid with lid kinda box, and I store tool, charger if applicable, and all of the parts and pieces back into the tub. It's how I am. I do bring the tub right to the place I am working though, so it is all right at hand, and then inspect each piece close up, to make sure I grabbed the correct one, so again with the made box, I'd still grab pieces out to check them out, and again, they would never end back in their slot, so I just cut to the chase, buy a box for 3 bux, and dump it in.

So far in life the only time this flaw I have about ANTI organized is with sockets. I am not mechanic enough that I can identify a 9/16 from a 1/2" or similar from across the room, so I do a lot of searching to get the right one. Different shapes, those are a piece of cake.
Now if I could still buy Airfix kits I would de have bothtools in my hobby box.
Another great product gone and I think the Train sets sank with them

Very nice box LBD. I doubt I would ever use a k ife like that though, but I'd still be interested to read your review.

Hozo ...sounds like an yank Marine chant to me,

Tamiya...  Tamiya you say possibly the demise of Airfix I am not sure.
I bet you didnt use humbrol paint pots either!

Do they still make water based transfers these days.
