Two Moon Coat Rack

Sharing my latest client piece:  A two-moon coat rack designed to look like a wall sculpture when it's not in use. The clients wanted something for guest coats but didn't want bare hooks on the wall all the time, so we went this route.
The main challenges were matching grain to the curve on those thin tips, cutting accurate joinery on curved surfaces, and hiding all the hardware. I ended up building a few CNC fixtures to hold everything in place for routing, but cut the shapes themselves on the bandsaw so I could react to any wood movement as I went. The shelf and hooks sit in half-lap joints and completely cover the wall screws.

You can watch it be built on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Ef9PHx1Gogk?si=LB1PVSDvmo08dtbH

A lot of details to figure out with that sculpture! I think the design is brilliant, perfect for the "hanger" requirement and looks good when empty, no clues as to the utility aspect!

I really appreciate your video work, but find my self trying to help, like when you were gluing the moon halves together! 🤠
Love it Brian.

This is excellent! I love how the two arcs create an image of a straight line in the middle. So cool!
