Walnut Dressing Vanity with a Black Swoosh

Dressing Vanity
Had a client come back after a headboard build wanting a dressing vanity to match. The headboard had a series of decorative swooshes carved across its face.
The swoosh starts on one side, wraps across the front face, and returns down the other side.  The contrast between the walnut grain and the matte black relief is what makes it work.

The drawer up top is sized for daily-use items like brushes, jewelry, that kind of thing. Skipped the traditional pull and instead cut an organic finger-notch into the upper right corner of the drawer face, with a groove along the back edge for a natural finger rest. That notch shape was taken directly from the integrated side tables on the headboard build, so it's doing double duty as both a functional detail and a callback to the original piece.
Built to accommodate either a tabletop mirror or a wall-hung mirror above, depending on how the client ends up using the space.
Black walnut throughout, matte clear coat.

Very cool Brian.

Learned something from your layering to get the grain flow consistent. A lot of extra work but the details are what takes it from good to great!
Very nice...and unique!!!!!!!!

Nice piece Brian. I like stuff on tall legs, makes them interesting.
Just finished the video. The black swoosh against the walnut looks fantastic. Very nice build.
