Cutting Board

One of my former employees came to wanting to know if i would make a cutting board for a friend of his, i said sure. he said he does a lot of bbq and  smoking so he didn't need anything fancy like a 3d board. I said good because that would cost him 2-3 hundred ! So i didn't want to go too plain so i added some striping and a little color. Size he wanted was  24" x 18" x 1-1/4". All the wood was left overs from former projects. Walnut, maple and padauk. Rather than some simple black rubber feet i found some solid brass ones with silicone rubber on amazon. Added some hand holds on both sides for easier pickup. Did a heavy soak of mineral oil for finish.

Nice looking board. That's a whole lot easier than an end grain board

Very nice job with nice clean lines. And I like the way you used scrap timber you have lying around. I just finished a chain mail pattern end grain board and I worked out the waste consumed over 51% of the timber used. It makes the board very expensive.
Keep up the good work.
One of my former employees came to wanting to no if i would make a cutting board....
So did you make if for him or keep it to yourself?

Did you make 2? What happened to the end stripe in picture 2?  Also how did you do the ends in picture 1?

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Q1. So how much did it end up costing him?
Q2. I assume the white grain following edge trims were inlayed later
Q3. What size round over did you use
Q4 I don't see any pictures of the glue as a spectator anywhere and it looks white so Its not franklin
Q5. Whats the Blue esky for
Q6. White rags are a form of Chux I guess
Q7. Was it the demise of your sander?
I like the look of the finished product and its at a standard I would have expected from you!
A tick for the feet, I will have to go looking for them.

BTW where is the article on the dead sander?

Regards Rob

Pottz

Long grain boards can be beautiful.  Your  is!

The cutting board police might point out the cross grain, but you did as an inlay.  Very clever.

What's the obsession w your dead sander?
