I decided it was time for a new sturdier base for the ipe table top. The top is not new it was attached to the aluminum base that came with the chair set. With a 40# Ipe top lets just say it was a little wobbly ! Luckily i just happened to have enough ipe from past projects to do this base. The legs are made up of 3 pieces laminated together to form a 2-1/2" square leg. I did a slight taper to the inside to lighten the look a bit. Cross members on the top and middle with scrap maple pieces on the top member to make it more rigid. Legs are attached to the cross members with a domino and 2 stainless steel #15 x 4" lags screws for extra strength. The top is attached to each leg with z clips into grooves cut with a bisquit joiner to allow movement. Plastic runners are on the bottom of each leg so they wont sit in water during the winter rains. The size is 54" diameter and 30" tall. The table is finished with Penofin western red cedar oil. Any questions please ask.
