Made this for a friend. She has been unable to buy one from the Children’s Hospital auction.

She does a lot of work for the charity.

This is walnut from a large branch, it was cut on the bias giving the rings of the tree a
oblong shape.

Finished in mineral oil.

1" or so thick 2 feet long 10 to 12" wide.

A lot of curl in the grain.

Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks guys, this was a work of love .

I love that wood!

Branches would seem to provide excellent curl based on their stresses during growth, that bias cut didn't disappoint!

Is the darkening near the thumb hole part of the chatoyance?

Fine work and target customer Petey!
