child proofing fire place

My neighbor has a 2yo and asked if i could make a padded deal for her fire place. So i said sure. I wanted to keep cost as low as possible, so since i scored some 70% off lumber the other day at home depot, i found the 2 widest pieces i had and joined them, i put biscuts and glue to join them. the width worked out perfectly, I then took a board and put a lip on 2 sides. I used a 1" foam then she had bought the fabric and i wrapped it. First time wrapping anything, i think it came out pretty good. over all material cost was about $5-6 for wood, $16 for foam, and $8 for fabric. A cheap practical project.

Great idea. Nicly done

I just did something similar for my wife. She wanted a headboard so I made a very similar backing. Foam, fabric and all. Hung in the wall with French cleats. Wife is happy.
