I made this little sled stop this morning after my buddy mentioned that I was cutting through the guard on my cross cut sled and I thought it was time to come up with a permanent solution and retire the previous removable stop which I would forget to use from time to time and cut through the blade guard .
I had given this idea some thought and could not come up with a situation where it would get in the way of other accessories or operation so on the saw it went .
This stop is permanent at the end of the miter slot and stops the sled by the sled runner coming in contact with the stop .The stop assembly is below the saw table top .
I used a piece of square aluminum pipe that I happen to have and a chunk of pine as a block and two 1/4” bolts and nuts to fasten it to the back rail all very simple and took about thirty minutes to make .
I don’t think I have to explain the build as there are enough pictures that I took as I built it .
Now I don’t have to remember to insert the old stop every time I use the sled and worry about cutting through the blade guard on the sled .

Great problem solving solution. You have a knack for making these kind of things seem mater of fact, as if it has been around for ever. Thanks for sharing all these types of solutions with us all, it challenges myself and prob a lot of others to get creative in the solutions we make.
