Customized Acoustic Guitar

1965
14

Customizing a 1969 Gibson LG-0 that belonged to my father. Added a cutaway for upper fret access, graduated sound holes along the upper bout, tuned rosewood bracing, a carved fantastical dragon figure for the main sound hole based on an original artwork by Roger Dean, headstock inlays front and back, neck heel lamination, end graft, fret markers, and natural edge truss rod cover. New frets to be installed, lacquer finish, and new tuning machine heads.

Very creative and nice design. The finished parts really look well done. I would like to see the the dragon when it is finished too.

Such style, I think the dragon is my favourite part, but, it’s all amazing work, well done.

Thanks, Bruce.
Thanks, Mike. The dragon’s finished, just not glued on yet. Waiting on a shipment of fret wire. Then I can begin the finishing process. I’ll post more photos when it’s completed.
Thanks, Thorreain.

Beautiful work on the soundhole cover…although it will make future interior repairs hazardous ;’) Is that an adjustable saddle?

Thanks, Mark, but removal of the carving is simple enough. Yes, the saddle is height adjustable and is original to the instrument.
