Yes these are made from a wood product .
I made a box like the SAPPORO box I recently posted
https://woodworkingweb.com/creations/1993-sapporo
for an elderly couple and as a sign of appreciation they mailed me some butterfly’s like these and I just had to know how they where done .
Since I don’t have a table saw at the moment that is in running condition I thought I would use some different tools and I had a chance to pay them a visit and was shown the process in detail and these are the first I have done . Please let me know what you think .

Very pretty Klaus.
I patiently await the “how to” part.
Everyone should have a few of these.
The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.
Thanks guys

The saw will be up and running today a new switch is coming .
Looks like there is interest in this and a blog would be in order .
Paul /Shipwright did a good guess as to the type of material(Paper) and that it is folded and that is about as far as I got when I first saw these Butterfly’s or should it be spelled Butterflies .
Anyway what really got me wondering is the coloring and how it was done and an air brush was my guess but again I was wrong on that also .
I will get to work on the blog and post it soon so be patient and have a good 4th of July Holiday .
