Walnut bowls Sometimes you learn a valuable lesson from a project, and sometimes you wish you knew before you started! I did a glue-up of a walnut block and a contrasting maple strip, intending to do two bowl turnings. After studying the block, I thought a rectangle with an off-center bowl would be cool….not really thinking how much torque would be created by the added mass to one side. I got it done, but it was scarey. Even at slow speed, the lathe was jumping around pretty good.
These are the two pieces……walnut and maple. leather covered foot on each, sanded to 220 and finished with Minwax satin poly

I like this style these are true designer pieces.
If you do another one, try adding a counter balance to one end, hot glue works and can be removed with a heat gun.
