Sail Away..........

I have had a long-running love affair with Hawaii…..been there 18 times. On a recent visit, just before the pandemic hit, I managed to smuggle out some native wood……mango and koa…. and made a little replica outrigger canoe.
The hull and outrigger beams are koa, and the float is mango. The sail is parchment with a sea turtle graphic. The rigging is kitchen twine. All wood parts are sanded to 220 and finished with satin poly. The hull is about 12 inches long and the mast is about the same. The sail boom is a bamboo skewer that I steam bent.
