My First Crochet "Flower Hat"

This is my first crochet “flower hat” and I’m quite pleased.
The flower looks a little large for the hat in the picture but in reality it doesn’t.

Let’s see if I can remember how I made it:

Hat
Magic Chain with 12 DC
2 DC in each stitch
2 DC; 1 DC; repeat around
3 DC in stitch; skip a stitch; repeat around (working in the “spaces”, between 3dc of row before) Note: no increasing
repeat for 4 rows
sc around for 5 rows
Finish off

Flower
Magic Ring with 7 sc (leaving a long end to attach to hat)
Ch 10 in each sc
For each petal (each of the chains): 1 sc; 1hdc; 8 dc; chain 2; 8 dc; 1 hdc; 1 sc.
Slip stitch to finish off.
(leaving long end for attaching to hat)

Attach button with one of the long ends and secure the flower to the hat.
I tied the ends together into a knot and then, using a needle, secured the top flowers to the hat as well, before finishing off.
