I was right in the middle of another afghan when the current Awards was announced and I needed something “flowery”.
Since I am in love with Tunisian, I had to find a “tunisian flower”.
Although the flower was called a rose, I am thinking of it as a tulip. After just the first row of flowers, I was in love with this afghan. It is just so bright and springy. Love it!!!
(photos don’t do it justice)
Pattern
This is how I made the pattern.
8mm Tunisian hook with cable and a stopper on the end.
- chain multiple of 3 plus 1
- Load the hook with the main colour (white) and do 2 rows of simple stitch
- Return pass: leave two loops on hook and change to green; pull it through & chain 1 (sew in ends)
LEAVES
- skip 2; and in the next, sc, yarn over, and sc; (skip 2 and repeat the leaves); sc in last stitch
- return pass: as usual, leaving 2 loops on hook and change to colour of the flower; pull through; chain 3 (sew in ends)
FLOWER
- working into leaves, (after first sc), 3 dc; repeat across and dc into last stitch
- return pass: chain 1, pull through the chain 1 and the 3 DC of the flower; sc to lock the flower; chain 1 and repeat across; leave 2 loops on hook and change to white; chain 1 (sew in ends)
Note: count flowers to ensure you are keeping rows even
WHITE
- forward pass: pull yarn through the “sc at top of flower”; yarn through in the chain space; dc into the space between two sets of green leaves; repeat across; sc in last stitch; chain 1
- return pass: as usual
- row 2: simple stitch as usual
- row 3: simple stitch as usual, changing to green in the last two loops on hook, on the return pass)
- sew in ends
