Diffuser Snowflake

This holiday season, I want to send out a little gift to people in my oily network.

A “diffuser snowflake” is what I came up with: a crocheted snowflake plus a couple of drops of JOY essential oil, sending out a little “joy to the world”.

I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR8j_CbtSWc

CENTRE
> chain 8 and slip stitch to form a circle circle
POINTS
> chain 5, to make first DC into the circle;
> crochet 11 [DC, chain 2] into the circle and slip stitch into first = 12 DC

SMALL PICOT POINT
> chain 4
> slip stitch into 3rd stitch from hook to create picot
> chain 2
> slip stitch into top of next dc
[alternative: chain5 and slipstitch back into same stitch]

LARGE PICOT POINT
> chain 7
> slipstitch into 3rd stitch from hook to create first of three picots
> chain 3 and slipstitch into the first of the chain = 2 picot
> chain 3 and slipstitch into the first of the chain = 3 picot
> slipstitch into the base of the first of the three picot
> chain 4 and slipstitch into the next DC

repeat around … slip stitch to close.

*NOTE: *I added a large loop for hanging

This is a smaller vision with the 5 chain loop instead of the small picot.
I also started with the large picot point so that I could end with the small and attach the hanging loop to it. I just pulled up a chain and then knotted it.

40 snowflakes later …

I, then, soaked them in a mixture of 50:50 glue/water, let them sit in the glue for a few minutes, squeezed out the access, and laid them out to dry.

I added some JOY to the centre of the snowflakes, to diffuse some “joy to the world”. (I was going to mix the #essentialoil into the glue but I forgot so had to adapt my plan)

Next step will be to let them dry for a couple of days and, then, they will be ready to mail out to my oily peeps.
