Two years ago when my Princess (granddaughter) was 3 years old, I designed and built her a princess chair, as she is truly my princess. This is the first chair I ever designed and built and the first time I tried carving. The chair is made from pine and it has her initials inlaid into the back splat. The chair has a volute at the upper rear seat legs, a Federal fan on the rear of the chair shoe, a shell on the front of the seat rail, and acanthus leaves carved into the cabriole legs. The chair is fitted with a hot pink slip seat to match the inlayed initials.
I finished the chair with a seal coat of shellac, then used the Maloof oil and wax finish.
I have approximately 200 hours in the design, build, and finish.
