web photos

For kicks I opened up the g+ and Facebook pages for WWW and the photos are 100 times clearer than on the website. I’m using chrome on my android phone (I very rarely use a computer). The website photos are grainy and very compressed. I suppose that’s to make them load faster but is there a way to make them clearer? Often I can’t make out details due to the graininess of the images.

I depend on the graininess to hide my crap skilz

lol Wolf. I view stuff on my phone, but only as a ref, i always go back online to view the pics better. I use safari on my iPhone, and they look grainy.

Hi Brian, could you post a screenshot here? Or maybe upload a photo that seems grainy to you? There is no dramatic compression going on here.

It’s every picture. When I zoom it’s really grainy. When I looked on g+ and Facebook it’s clear – the original image. And this is nothing new. The reason I bring it up now is because I happened to look on these other apps and noticed how much better the image quality is.

Do you use G+ and FB as apps or in Safari as well?

Have you tried to jack up your screen resolution on your desktop? If you are set for 800X600 or less, everything will be a bit grainy, and doubly so when you zoom. try at least 1024X768, higher if you can do it and see.

Martin, as apps. But this morning I gave it another look in both and instead of opening the image, they open links back to WWW. So I don’t know if something changed or if I was doing something different before. Now I’m all confused.

I’m running chrome on android.
