It's the final push to complete the shaping, sanding, and glue-up for the support frame. On the front/back stretchers, I added a 1/4" roundover on the underside edges.
With most of the sanding completed, the pieces were ready for the first phase of the glue-up - the legs to the long stretchers.
A strap clamp was all that was needed to keep the joints tight during glue-up. I added a spacer at the top of the legs to maintain the proper distance between them (the outside width of the cabinet).
Now I could blend the transitions from leg to stretcher.
The bow sander does cut across the grain some - it's hard to avoid it. After completing the rough shaping, I was careful not to skip grits when sanding the area smooth.
Now I could get the cross-stretchers glued in place.
Time for another test fit.
The blue tape was to prevent scratches on the veneer.

Thanks, Steve. It does feel like it's taking a lot of work, which makes me think that I'm probably doing something the wrong way. I'm no furniture builder, but I aspire to be!

Thanks, Ron. I got most of the ebonizing done last night. I should complete it this evening. I feel like I'm getting close, although I still need to veneer and edge the back panel, settle on a way to attach it, notch the shelves, build the drawer and drawer face (and probably a pull). Of course, applying the Rubio is the big payoff. I'm looking forward to that.
