Wedding Keepsake Box

This was made last year for my daughter's wedding. I wanted something special for her on their day. I created a card box in which the side panels would hold a 4" x 6" photo of their courting days. These can be switched out during their marriage, I bet they have the grandson photos in there now. It was well received by both.

I built the box using 1/2" Poplar, the top and bottom were glued up to get the width need. The trim around the sides was made up using a router. I used some wooden knobs on the bottom for feet, and a saw kerf with Wenge for the splines, and Oak dowels for a secure attachment. The top and bottom was banded with a trim piece cut like a shiplap (no end grain visible). I turned a couple of small knobs to act as a lock to to hold the top in place. The finish is just a whitewash made by thinning some latex paint by 25%, then a few coats of Satin Varnish. The measurements are 13" across and 14" high.

Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Homemade gifts are always so special, especially for monumental days!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Excellent gift, will be greatly treasured. Super workmanship.
