Layout Tools

After participating in a tool swap, I decided to make more of the Layout Tools. Small Square, Bevel Gauge, Marking Knifes, and Awl's. Most are made with Walnut, and Purpleheart endcaps. The blades for the bevel gauge and marking knife were ordered through Taylor Tools.

The finish was 2 coats of Natural Danish Oil, and 6 coats of Shellac sanded with 220, 400 and finally 0000 Wool and buffed. The Awl's were finished on the lathe with a friction polish of Shellac an BLO.

I made these up to have on hand to give to a few buddies.

Thanks for viewing and comments always welcome.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Pottz. Guess that's a hint for the Secret Santa. Well played. I heard you're on the Naughty List this year.

Thanks Ryan.

Wow - I would sat too nice to use but maybe better to say too nice not to enjoy using! Look great and all great additions to a shop.
Thanks Barb, I have a set that I use in the shop, comfortable and lite weight. The Awl is really sharp and it works well for the tiny screws that are use occasionally.

Really practical and good looking.   Great work.

Ron

Thank, Ron. Practical, and better than some of the ones that can be purchased.

That's a great set of tools, Eric.  And a lovely bench they're sitting on!
Thanks, Ross. That bench has become a go to work surface, a happy build to add to the shop.

So much beauty in one place - magnificant tools!

...woodicted

Thanks, Ivan. And it makes a good set to have in the shop.

All classics, and I dearly love my drill bit Awl, use it every day I'm in the shop.
Thanks, George. I use mine frequently also, works great for those tiny little screws.

Cool "kit"sLofty... lucky Santa passes over Churchill (Australia) on his flight south during winter.  Hell I might even meet him midway in the air.

I'm quite happy to receive a set even if I'm not considered a buddy.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
