Thank you gift, and a gag

Back in 2017, someone must have jammed a car door into the side of my F150 in the parking lot at work. That truck is my baby and so a friend of mine said he had a friend who owned a shop that could deal with the little dent in my door. I was dealing with a broken foot and blood clots at the time and so I think they both had some pity on me and did it for a no charge. As a thank you I made a small key holder out of some walnut that my friend had given me from his century farm. It was left over from a bookcase project that I made for him. Anyway I was feeling a little mischievous and sent my friend a picture of the following as my completed project!

He actually said OK I'll pick it up to bring to him or something like that.  I was laughing so hard I was about crying. Then I sent him the real picture of the little finished project. It still makes me laugh that he thought scrap pieces of glued up walnut with a few hooks on it would have been my final project. 🤣🤣🤣

I've made a couple more - one for our entry

And one for a colleague at work

Nothing fancy but I like having the keys organized and then a spot for mail or wallets.  And, made them all out of my favorite walnut.

Nicely done Barb, the organization of keys is a must. so much better than tossing them on the counter. Well done.

Main Street to the Mountains

Nice design with the extra storage. Hey the scrap ones are functional also
Anything to save that daily 5 minute ritual of "where them car keys???"

Nice idea (and story) BB!
Nice rack!!
I would have like to see the look on his face when he saw the picture.  hahaha
Good one Barb.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

great idea barb.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Eric, Corelz125, splintergroup, pottz - thanks. I need help with organizing.  I'm often the culprit for leaving keys in my coat pocket.  🤷‍♀️

Bentlyj - after I talked with him (still laughing), he said he wasn't sure what to think and didn't want to make me feel bad if that really was my design.  He should have known better...but glad he didn't as I still chuckle about it.
Funny story, and a sweet little key rack. Walnut is always nice!

Tony- the gag maybe wasn't as nice (but fun) ☺️ I really appreciated the help with fixing up my truck.  It's a 2007 and no one ever believes it's that old as it has had a pampered life.
Real nice gifts, Barbara!! You can bet they will be used!!

Cheers, ,Jim

Thanks Jim.  I know we like ours (the one with 5 hooks) and my colleague was still using it after he moved to a new place.
Good one

And I like the first version too .. conversation piece!
