I had an old plywood chest I first made for the palm carving tools, but it was too bulky so that design evolved to the small chest sitting on top of the new one (posted previously). It ended up holding my large carving tools, but they went cross-ways in the drawers. So, this chest is deep enough to accommodate the longest chisel I ever expect to buy. 24" wide X 15" deep X 16" tall. Red oak (carcass and drawer fronts) and poplar (other drawer parts) from the local Lowes. Hardboard drawer bottoms. I made the back from a piece of Baltic birch plywood left over from the cabinet I made for my table saw. Also got to use my new dado blade set. It sure beats making a zillion cuts and then chiseling and sanding the slots to size! The front cover stows on a shelf just under the top. That isn't finished yet, because I'm thinking of carving or wood burning a design into it. Knobs are from Lowes as well. Bigger than I would really like, but they were $2 instead of $6.
