Walnut Tables

Here are two tables I was commissioned to build from a picture and a list of dimensions from my customer in Colorado. They are made from solid walnut and finished with Zar 125 ( Black Walnut) stain and 4 coats of clear lacquer on the frames and then scuff waxed and an additional 4 coats of polyurethane on the tops and waxed. I wanted them to be safe for getting drinks set on them. I had not planned a full finish on the tops but they came close to it.

Each frame is 16 pieces- 2 piece legs and 2 piece aprons all glued together and contour sanded as a panel. The tops are 3 pieces with biscuits joining the sections. I opted for a rabbet joint in the corners of the legs rather than a 45 degree miter for a cleaner look and more strength. ...............Cheers, Jim

Nice job Jim! Great work matching the grain from the legs to the middle sections. Very hard to distinguish.
