Half Cup Scoop

This is a 1/2 cup scoop I turned from one piece of Osage Orange. It is finished with 3 stage buff and wax.

I did not have the camera near the lathe to show the steps I used to complete this piece but I will for the next one.

cheers, Jim

Very cool! Do you turn the handle and cut the bowl? Or turn the bowl and cut the handle?

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Jim...excellent scoop and lovely wood.
I bet you had to really concentrate to keep away from that spinning handle.
Looks great to see a really seamless handle extending from the main body.
Osage Orange is a beautiful timber.

Well done turning, great work.
Interesting on how to do it.   Nice work and a really nice piece.

Nice, Jim! I’m also looking forward to the how-to.

May you have the day you deserve!

Very nice Jim, and yes interested in how that was done on a lathe.

Thank you for the nice comments. I will be sure to take a full string of photos when turning the next one. It is not that hard...you just have to keep your wits about you and don't drink alcohol when turning it................Cheers, Jim

Good looking cup Jim.
When people post items I'm often interested in the dimensions.
Thanks Ms Debbie and Les.

Hi Les, This scoop is  2 3/4" OD and 1 3/4" high and 4 3/4" overall length and holds exactly 1/2 cup inside.

Magnificant turning!! There were lot ofcenter vibrations!

...woodicted

I not sure how you turned it, but it came out beautifully.  Great job.  Mike
Thanks Ivan and Mike.

Hi Ivan. I was prepared to glue on a counterweight but it did not vibrate much at all so I got away without it. I have used a counterweight in the past on larger ones.
