These are a little project I made for the wife. Most call them Gnomes, but the "Tiny Turner" on youtube called them Gonks. I like that name better. They are about 5 to 6 inches tall, finished with EEE polish and wax. The white haired one with the derby hat bears a striking resemblance to my brother....They were fun, quick and easy. The "hair' is available on amazon and held on with hot glue. The nose and hats and the pom pom on the tall hat have tenons and corresponding holes. I'm going to send one to Corelz's daughter as they are sort of magical too.....Thanks for looking!
Cute as all get out, unfortunately my wife was looking over my shoulder and saw these. She is a really big Gnome fan. Guess what I will now be making, and my wife said to say thank you for showing them. So, are the hats and heads one piece with the hair around them, or are they separate somehow and glued together ? Thanks, Mike
Read the description better, figured my question out on my own. Mike
Those are great! Would you be willing to post a project build or a blog on the process? I think there are certainly come folks that would like to treat what you’ve done!
Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Ive never done that Ryan...not sure I know what to do...I am still painting too...but I would be glad to try it in a couple of weeks...
Those are great nice job. I made a few myself, but not as nice as your walnut ones. Do you have the hair go all the way around, or is there wood showing in the back of their heads? I found it kind of easier also if I made them in 2 pieces. I've seen some turners do them in one piece and I don't get how they get the hair positioned the way they want it before the glue dries.
Thank you all for the nice comments hairy, it was like eating potato chips, I couldn't stop!! awsum, the hair does not wrap all the way around. It is just bare wood . I thought about taking a carving tool and making a "crack" back there...just to make the whole little black duck experience complete, but don't have any carving tools..... The nose has a 3/16 x 1/2" long tenon and then the hole is drilled into the body, I have one of those punches that make a small hole and have multiple sizes of hole on it. I punch a 3/16 hole in the beard and stick the tenon through it in the appropriate position then glue in the nose with titebond....let it sit for 1/2 hour then hot glue the beard on the sides....do not push real hard on the beard or the hot glue will seep thru the material on the beard...likewise CA will too...don't ask ow I know this ( DAMHIKT )
