Twenty-Drawer Hardware Cabinet

As I was surfing Craftisian looking up old LG buddies, I came across "Smitty's" world-renowned Spalted Maple Nail / Screw Cabinet. It was this very project that inspired me to build my Twenty Draw Hardware Cabinet. Thanks again, Smitty!

I started my cabinet, back in 2018, by attacking a couple of pine boards with a coping saw and some files.

I then added a few tails,

Cut some pins,

Added a dado here and there,

And a bunch of half-laps,

Until I had something resembling a cabinet.

I then laid out some drawer fronts in ambrosia maple,

And made a boatload of little half-blind dovetail drawers.

After a few coats of white milk paint, a good slathering of boiled linseed oil, and turpentine, I had a decent hardware cabinet. Not to mention a place to store a few planes.

Again, my thanks to Smitty for the inspiration!

Thanks in advance for hitting that like button!

A very nice looking cabinet, lots of dovetails. Ilike the little router plane that you used. Well done.

Thank you, Eric. That Old Woman’s Tooth is about thirty years old.

Quality workshop pieces are the best! This certainly meets that standard. Beautiful.
Real nice work. That's a lot of pins and tails made by hand.
The painted case allows the drawers to really stand out.  So nicely done and looks perfect for the space.

And now I am inspired! I need hardware storage and a home for molding planes, problem solved!
