Cherry and Hickory Box

Another old project I moved over from the dark side. I think this box is made of hickory.

The feet on this box were a little scary to create. I'm always anxious with very small parts going through my table saw so I try to do whatever I can to do things in the right order while the board is oversized. Sometimes using my hands instead of a push stick seems safer. I'm super careful, but there are some procedures that can seem more dangerous when you don't have direct contact with your fingers.

Nice design John, the grains look great. Also like the beveled top. I hear what you are saying on the use of a table saw to cut small parts. I always think about the process of those cuts.

There are definitely times I think one of the small model-sized saws would be of benefit. My small bandsaw is set up pretty solidly and cuts very straight, so I usually use that, but there are still saw marks on the piece that have to be sanded out usually.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

nice one bud. next time we do a box swap you gotta get in.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

They do look like they would be safer, but I think if they could cut wood, they could still take your finger off. I've already donated a piece of finger to the table saw.

Nice build and it is awesome. The top looks like it took a lot of steps to create. Router table saw?

I also have dozens of projects over there. Not sure if I have the time or inclination to move them. I do feel like I abandoned them. Lol.

A classic Bud!

The linear grain goes well with the foot styles and splines.
Nice box!

One thing I do is use MDF for trial and error when figuring out how to do something.
This can show me the right way and keep track of my fingers.

You don't always get what you go after, but you do get what you wouldn't have got if you didn't go after what you didn't get. Blaze Foley

Awesome, I forgot to ask what size is it? And the splines came out great.

Thanks James, all done on my table saw

I know how you feel, I have so many over there I'm picking some and leaving others. Problem is I used that site to show my family and friends my projects, so I feel I have to move at least my favorite stuff over.
