This carving was done in response to the old growth clear cutting in Clayoquot Sound back in the 90's
I had just started carving the teeth when I found a seal skull on the beach. I cleaned it up and used  the teeth in the carving.

Wow! Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Another fantastic piece! The quality of your work is first class.
Being old growth i would expect this to be fir, cedar or hemlock but it doesn't look like any of those. Is it a darker wood or a dark finish?
stunning work !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Some very beautiful carving!
Thanks! This was carved from an old red cedar shake block. It went really dark when I oiled it
