Boxes for Christmas Presents

Made 4, one for each of the girls, (wife, daughter, DIL, granddaughter).    Mahogany, Walnut and a tad of Cherry.
Boxes are 4" x 7 1/2" and 3" tall.    Mahogany wall thickness 1/4", top Mahogany thickness 3/16", Bottom Mahogany thickness 1/8"
Wall sides slant 10 degrees as do the Walnut legs.    Made from several sources of Mahogany so the grain patterns are a bit different.  Tops were out of one piece that was highly figured.    Tad of Cherry on the top lift.
4 coats of wipe on poly.

Very nicely done Ron!  I love the lids and "hardware" on it!  Really cool, you're going to get some hugs for sure!

Really nice. I like how the lid deco echoes the leg pattern. 👍🏼

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

wow those are gorgeous ron. gonna put some smiles on xmas morn.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Awesomeness Ron!

I spent some time looking and trying to figure out how you release that lid hasp 🤔

Silly me. Colors are great, the black in the lids is really nice. Did you do anything on the interiors?
Those are excellent and love the figure of the wood on top.
They look fancy and I like how you made the angled legs.  I also want to see how you made the inside, too. Good job!!

No name noobie here

Nice looking grain on those tops. Nice designs
The insides are just finished Mahogany.   Let the wood shine so to speak.
Thanks for the comments.

So nicely done.  The grain on the tops is eye catching.  Great gifts!
Love the design Ron, especially the lift treatment.

Beautiful design and the mahogany is gorgeous. Love the angled sides and legs.
Thanks for all the comments.    Had to think a bit to make the legs with the slanted side of the box.   All done on the table saw with the 10 degree set on the miter gauge.

I always hated trying to figure out ways to make legs like that on the TS. Small pieces with lots of non-90 cuts.

Are your lids just a single flat piece? Making the legs tall provides that lid aligner/retainer feature which is really cool!
Really like the look.  All of the angles give it a very Zen feel.  Homemade Christmas presents like this are the best kind.
tops are 3/16" thick flat pieces.   Having the lift detail go across may keep it flat in the future.
Thanks for the comments.

Cool gifts 987...  Why not lift the lid... secrets hidden?  Maybe some expensive Christams gift?

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Beautiful gifts; love the highly figured lid.
