2 Dial Mailbox Bank

Have made several of these in the past, both keyed and single dial combination. We  picked up  a couple of these dual dial doors at a junk store recently. The case is cherry with an oak back, oak splines. Decided to add walnut buttons(should have left them proud).

Bought the brass coin slot on line.a little WD40 and propane torch to turn the bright brass to the aged look.

Each door had  paper Id tags , one being “paint dept” and the other “campus police” typed on, suggests they were part of a mail box assembly perhaps out of a college?  I recreated tags to put over the original and added the combination. In this case 1 line before E and 1 line before S. a reminder for the owner but perhaps not so obvious to others.
with the exception of a piece of felt on the floor, the inside is unfinished.
A couple coats of diluted shellac wiped on followed by a coat of wax.
Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

The door patina and wood choices blend well together, very nice!
looks great dan. i wish i had thought about adding patina to the brass coin slots on the ones i did, looks a lot better than shiny and new.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nice! I remember using one of these 2 dial doors in my college days.
Nice. I haven't found one of the duel dials.
I like it.  the dual dials look like eyes and give it a steam punk robot with a mustache look at first glance.
Thanks guys. A fun little build. I hadn’t seen the dual dial until these. They do create a bit of a steam punk look.
Nice work! The cherry looks aged as well. Goes well with the overall aged look!

Measure "at least" twice and cut once
