Commemorative Stools for the Buckley Old Engine Show

I made these stools to commemorate 55 years of the Buckley Old engine Show in Buckley, Michigan. I got the idea while visiting the wood shop where a nice lady named Casey was making these 3 ft 3/4" dowels on an early 1900 dowel cutting machine. She would stamp the buckeye name and the year on them . I asked her if she would put 2 additional stamps on the ones I bought and she did so I could get 3 spindles out of each dowel.

The tops and bottoms are made from 5/8" maple plywood. The laser lettering on the tops was done by my friend Meredith and then I painted them John Deere green and coated them with clear epoxy to fill in the letters and for durability.

They are 10" diameter and 8" high. The rest of the stools was coated with clear gloss Rustoleum spray.

The last shot is of the routing of a finger grab groove under the rim of the top. It makes it easier to pick it up when your fingers are not too strong any more.

Nice little stools, but my knees ache just thinking about getting up from an 8” high stool.

May you have the day you deserve!

Well done, at first glance I thought the tops were metal disks. Nice paint work.

Great looking projects, good job. Have always been partial to John Deere colors, the number one brand when I was growing up.
Thanks you all for the nice comment. One of these went to my farmer buddy, Rod, in Batavia Illinois. He has a lot of John Deere equipment.

Am I correct in assuming those are milking stools?  Love the design.

Nicely done (and that's coming from a Ford fan!).
Thank L/W and Barbara.

Hi L/W...they are step stools not milking stools. They are pretty short to sit on when milking. Only 8" high
