Accent table to go with chair for one of wife’s friends

I found a picture of a Maloof accent table so I made a poor copy of it to go with a chair I had made for a lady friend of my wife’s.  I made the top square and changed the leg so now the roots are the branches and the branches are the roots, unlike the original.  Made from walnut with General finishes gel stain, general finishes water based topcoat.  Supposedly represents a cypress tree after a rain storm with exposed roots but I made them be the limbs.  If you are not confused now, I sure am. I changed it’s least 6 or 7 times before i finally decided.  Many thanks for looking.

Well done good match

Thank you guys much.  BB the only thing I came up with as to attaching top to leg was to countersink two screws in the ends of the branches and plug them with walnut plugs.  Thank you.

Thanks for clarifying - I appreciate details like this as I try to expand my "brain bank" of woodworking knowledge.
Looks great Jack, nice build.
Jack well done!

You have been here 9 years!  Wow
