I made this bread tray to fit a loaf of Banana bread the we make a lot. It is 3/4" x 6 1/4 "x 10" and made from Willow Acacia ( left over from my last project). It is finished with Danish oil and buffed and waxed

Nice way to use a beautiful piece of wood.
fantastic jim.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I was reading that Willow Acacia is an Australian wood that grows in Southern Arizona. I've never seen it but judging by your awesome tray it looks like an awesome wood to use.
Really nice Jim!
Is that a single board?
I see the laser is now a key part of your finishing schedule.🤠
Nicely done!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks you all for the nice comments.
Hi MrRick. I bought 2 boards from John Goodwin at the Dead Tree Salvage saw mill in Casa Grande,Az.  He does not get much of it but the grain is super! He has a lot of pistachio and olive wood and I bought some of it too for here in Michigan.

Hi Bruce. It is one board that was hogged out with a 1 1/4"radiused corner router bit. I went down 3/8' for the relief. This  is part of the board I made the disc from  for in the hidden compartment of my last dovetailed box. I resawed a 1 1/4" thick piece. The laser is my right hand in the shop any more!! Notice where that wording came from?

Lovely!  You are using your new laser very effectively!
Nice, Jim! I’ve been finishing dark woods lately with shellac and no oil. Keeps them from getting quite as dark.

May you have the day you deserve!

Nice board Jim, love the message, it works perfectly.

Love banana nut bread, do you have a good recipe?
Looks like your router had quite a workout, nice results.
Nice work Jim

For info
https://horticultureunlimited.com/plant-guide/willow-acacia-tree/

It may AKA a wattle tree, ... not sure will do some more research, may be almost declared  a pest plant and if so is the bane of hay fever sufferers from the yellow pollen.

Regards Rob

Beautiful wood, nice design, making a great tray.

Ron

Thanks Barbara, Dave, George, Tom, Rob and Ron!!

Hi Barbara. Yes, I am getting good use of the laser. I didn't know if this would burn clear at 3/8" down from where the focal point is but it did great..

Hi George. If I can pull the recipe off my spreadsheet, I'll message it to you.

Hi Tom, actually I use that big router bit in the mill to so this one. It is much easier to see with the part right side up instead of upside down on a router table
